What we extract from a PNC Bank statement

A PNC business checking statement opens with a Balance Summary: beginning balance, deposits and other additions, checks and other deductions, and ending balance. Our PNC template reads those four figures first, so it knows what the transactions in the Activity Detail have to add up to.

In the Activity Detail, everything under Deposits and Other Additions is money in and everything under Checks and Other Deductions is money out, whichever category it sits in. PNC prints the amount before the description, and the template keeps multi-line descriptions with the right transaction.

Checks and Substitute Checks print three checks side by side on each line, with a * marking a gap in the check sequence. The template splits every line into its separate checks, each with its check number. The Daily Balance listing is a running balance, not transactions, so it stays out of your export.

Before you download, PNC's own figures are the yardstick: the four Balance Summary amounts, plus the Total item counts printed under each side where they appear, and any shortfall shows to the cent.

How far back PNC Bank statements go online

PNC keeps online statements for up to 7 years for checking and savings accounts, but says statement history may not be available once an account is closed.

Closing an account? Save its PDFs first. Saved statements convert one per file, with every check from the three-across check table on its own row.

Exports and retention

Excel, QuickBooks CSV (3-column and 4-column), and Xero CSV, free up to 3 pages a day with no signup and no watermark. Scans, photos, and password-protected PDFs work, and your file is deleted the moment parsing completes: see our security page, or a sample export.

PNC Bank statement conversion: FAQ

Does this work for PNC Treasury Enterprise Plan statements?

Yes. Treasury Enterprise Plan statements use the same Balance Summary and Activity Detail layout as PNC Business Checking, and the same template reads them.

My PNC PDF has several accounts in it. What happens?

PNC prints one Balance Summary per account, so two or more of them means several accounts in one file. We flag that rather than blend the accounts together. Upload each account's pages as its own file, or use bulk upload on a paid plan.

What about Virtual Wallet or personal PNC accounts?

Those layouts weren't among the PNC statements this template was calibrated on. Upload one anyway: when the PNC template can't make the numbers tie out, the general parser tries it too, and whichever result you see carries the same balance check.

Is there a cost to export a PNC statement to QuickBooks or Xero?

Not on the free tier: Excel, both QuickBooks CSV layouts, and Xero CSV, without an account or a watermark, up to 3 pages a day.
